IEP Hacks - Using the Law to Get the Services Your Child Is Entitled To
Food and drinks will be provided, in case you need to run to the meeting from somewhere else!
An in-person, highly interactive workshop to help you learn the laws governing IEPs and use them effectively to get the services your child needs. Please note: Intended for adults only - please arrange for your children to be taken care of elsewhere during this meeting.
Attorney & special ed parent Katie Bindrup teaches parents, caretakers & educators how to effectively advocate for children in the public school system.
Her motto is “You can do it - I’ll show you how!”
Through her common-sense approach to special education law, Katie empowers parents with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to effectively apply special education law to their child's individual educational program (IEP). Using examples, infographics, and firsthand experience, Katie offers a unique and dynamic approach to help parents, caretakers & educators gain confidence as they work with public schools to improve their children's access to a free appropriate public education. All attendees will receive a free guide on IEPs geared specifically towards Down syndrome. She has also created Adjurcation to help parents navigate the education system confidently.
Katie will give practical examples of what the law says and how to use the law to your child’s benefit. What if they say that’s not their policy? What if they say there isn’t enough staff to make that accommodation? What if the needed services are in the IEP, but they aren’t getting delivered to your child? How do you even know if they are getting the minutes set out in the IEP?
